Summer’s well on its way and with it comes plenty of amazing gig and festival announcements. You’re gonna have a tough time finding a better announcement than this one though, The Cat Empire and Xavier Rudd are joining forces to bring Australia an outdoor concert tour!

Taking place in January and February, the two Aussie legends will be sweeping through outdoor stages at some of the most beautiful places in the country. The two artists have a lot in common, with their distinctly Australian music bringing feel-good vibes in a genre-bending mash of upbeat folk and blues.

Known as “the ultimate party band”, The Cat Empire are funky blues connoisseurs and even have their own brass section to give their tunes an infectious groove. Their latest album ‘Rising With The Sun’ topped charts around the world, proving they’ve got as much spark as ever.

“We’ve been crossing paths with Xavier Rudd at festivals in Australia and internationally for many years, and we’ve always had a great time together. We’re very excited about this, it should be a full and colourful stage,” said The Cat Empire’s frontman Felix Riebl.

Xavier Rudd is the ultimate solo musician with his multi-instrument playing, singing, and songwriting talents. For the tour, Rudd will be teaming with Bobby Alu on drums and Ant Aggs on keys to form a funky trio. He’s been busy playing sold-out shows across Europe, but he’s happy to be playing back on home soil.

“I’ve always had a tonne of respect for The Cat Empire guys since the start. I guess it’s about time that we teamed up to do some shows together and I’m stoked to share a stage with these legends!” said Rudd.

This isn’t going to be any small gig either ‘cause it’s also been announced that some up-and-coming artists will be opening the stage. Funky alt-rocker Harts, reggae fusion band Ocean Alley, and indie-pop songstress Sahara Beck will be joining the two monoliths of Aussie music.
