The Head And The Heart Shining Bright With New Single

The Head And The Heart

After taking a break in 2014, American indie 6-piece The Head And The Heart are back to brighten up our gloomy winter with All We Ever Knew, the first single from their  third album ‘Signs of Light’.

A base of piano and guitar kicks things off, supporting the song’s steady growth into a classic indie-folk chord progression and instrumentation in the first verse. If the chorus sounds eerily familiar, it might be the uncanny resemblance to Imagine Dragons’ 2012 track Selene – the similarities will have you convinced you’re hearing double.

Anthemic unified voices hero the end of the chorus with that irresistible melody, contrasting against the song’s sweet, soft instrumental breaks to create a banger with balance.

All We Ever Knew comes as The Head and the Heart return from a 2014 hiatus. Bassist Chris Zasche said reforming and writing together again made them feel like “a new band, trying things [they] hadn’t tried”. Vocalist Charity Rose Thielen said the band had moved on from the sense of achievement and ‘making it’ that was so prevalent in their  first album.

“The day we started being able to live off our art was the day we achieved our dreams, in my mind. This is the album where we really fell into our true voices as those artists,” she said.
