The Inadequates Return with Haunting New Folk Single ‘Lethe River’ Ahead of Debut Album
Rising Australian folk trio The Inadequates are back with Lethe River, the second single from their hotly anticipated debut album Haven’t You Heard, due out August 28.
Lethe River offers a more vulnerable and stripped-back side of the band. Featuring delicate mandolin, accordion, and softly charmed guitar, the song carries a poetic weight, inspired by the mythical River Lethe a symbol of memory loss and emotional escape in Greek mythology. Through its layered harmonies and gentle instrumentation, Lethe River captures the sorrowful beauty of letting go, evoking feelings of grief, missed chances, and the quiet ache of moving on.

Known for their rich three-part harmonies and complex multi-instrumental arrangements, The Inadequates have already built a loyal following through performances at beloved folk festivals and venues across Australia. With Lethe River, they show just how emotionally deep their storytelling can go.
The band’s debut single The New Sensation introduced their eclectic sound earlier this month but Lethe River reveals a more introspective layer, further building anticipation for the full album release.
