The Temper Trap Sell Out Tour & Release Second Single

The Temper Trap Press Image 2016

The wait is finally over! Australia’s sweetest sounding rock band, The Temper Trap, have released their latest single Fall Together, for the first time since 2012. As four-time ARIA Award winners and multi-platinum chart-toppers, the quartet has sold more than one million albums worldwide, reached more than 200 million streams on Spotify, and 20 million plays on YouTube.

Their hit Sweet Disposition in 2009 brought them to prominence on an international scale. Singles Fader and Love Lost from their debut album ‘Conditions’ topped charts in both Australia and their adopted homeland of the UK. The act’s second self-titled album debuted at #1 on the ARIA Album chart with hit singles Trembling Hands and Need Your Love leading the band international acclaim and celebration.

It’s no wonder these guys have taken a few years to roll out their third studio album ‘Thick As Thieves’. We reckon they’ve earned a bit of creative hibernation! Set to release the new album in early June the band have said, “no one can accuse us of rushing things. We’re definitely slow burners when it comes to writing albums so we’re beyond excited to share these new songs”.

Of these new tracks, Fall Together stands out as a natural single. Collaborating for the first time in the band’s history, the influence of producer Justin Parker (Lana Del Rey, Sia, Bat For Lashes) has shaped The Temper Trap’s signature sound into the (s0 hot right now) alt-electronic dance mould. Perhaps not as emotionally charged nor vocally adventurous as the band’s earlier works, the single adopts much more of the synth-rock instrumentation than their traditional use of reverberated guitars and keyboards.

Lyrically, the track reveals little about the human condition that The Temper Trap, or any other pop band for that matter, have explored before. Raise your voice cause the time is now or never” vocalist Dougy Mandagi sings, and if we have to fall, we’ll fall together”.

The influences these alt-electronic producers bring will surely test the melancholy pop sound the band has crafted in preceding albums. But a challenge makes for an intriguing listen, and with a sold out upcoming Australian tour in May, it’s not too long a wait to hear the transformation of their sound live. See below for live dates.
