The Terrys Drop New Single, ‘Ghost of Bendigo’ feat. Nooky
Following on from their critically praised sophomore record ‘Skate Pop‘, Gerringong-based indie-rock upstarts The Terrys have teamed up with proud Yuin & Thunghutti man and rapper Nooky for ‘Ghost of Bendigo‘.
‘Ghost of Bendigo’ is a thundering, taunting stomper led by menacing bass lines, reggae-laden keyboards and euphonious whistles. Taking cues from luminaires such as The Specials, the track creates a roaring atmosphere, laying the bedrock for Nooky’s subversive delivery to envelop the listener.
The band talk about the process behind recording ‘Ghost of Bendigo’:
“We’ve been threatening to make music with Nooky for years, and it wasn’t until a dark and stormy night a few weeks back that the Gerringong council workers and the mayor of Nowra finally came together to make it happen. It was agreed that the session was to start at 11am, but Nooky ended up pulling through at 1am the next day…between storms, road closures and parental duties, it felt like the session was destined to fail; however, 29 instant coffees and two hours in a Bowral located Airbnb was all that was needed for this beast of a track to come alive. Produced by the one and only Tasker, the tasker, alongside liquid friends F-POS.”
The band will see out 2024 with a performance at Beyond The Valley on Saturday, December 28. This continues on from selling out shows across Australia, the UK, EU & NZ and playing Australian mainstays Spaced Out Festival, Yours & Owls, NYE on the Hill, Rolling Sets and Festival of the Sun.
The Terrys’ true north has always been this: stay positive, take it one day at a time and look towards the horizon with a smile and, ideally, beer in hand.
