Welcome to the AAA Backstage Weekly Slap, where we give you the latest new music we think absolutely slaps! Each week we scour through our emails and bring to you the top hits from our inbox. So sit back, whack on your headphones, turn the dial to eleven and let us do the selecting.
Rushkeys & Lugovskiy – Equilibrium
First up this week we take a trip over to Kiev and catch the sounds of Rushkeys and Lugovskiy and their latest single, Equilibrium. This one is for the lovers of a deeper electronic dance vibe. It’s progressive in it’s sound and super dreamy in delivery. If you’re into Willaris K or Jon Hopkins then this one is for you. Just over four minutes of pure journey, deep low kicks, off kilter percussion and some big synths. It’s an ideal listen in the late night but can also be a sunny companion for those lazy afternoon on the couch.
Jeztls – Affair
Enter the unique and interesting experimental world of Jeztls and his latest offering, Affair. It’s a combination of deep and progressive sounds with a fusion of electronica style beats and a very creative vocal delivery. Snappy percussion and deep bass make for a tune that really stands out from the rest. Jeztls oozes a really cool style in his songwriting and production. His previous single, Tear Me Down racked up some very impressive online streams and if that’s anything to go by, we’re sure this guy will be one to watch as his catalogue grows and grows.
Everything But The Everything – Denials
If you’re a fan of some classic sounding post-punk then this next one is for you. Everything But The Everything has really struck a note on this hauntingly good track, Denials. Filled with big synths and swirling vocal arrangements it carries a vibe straight from the mid 80’s. Featuring the added talents of Tobias Hawkins of Counting Crows fame, it’s a tune that will hit home to the music purist very quickly. If you like your music dark and mysterious then you’ll have this one on repeat.
Everdeen – Don’t Give Up The Ghost
Next up we’re off to Germany to catch some classic indie-rock vibes courtesy of Everdeen and their latest single, Don’t’ Give Up The Ghost. This one is just over three minutes of catchy goodness, big guitar work, thumping drums and a vocal delivery that is larger than life. IF you’re a fan Jezabels then this is your jam. The track has elements of classic rock even with a touch of a prog rock kind of element but stands out on it’s own. This one is almost impossible not to like.
Velvet Starlings – Technicolour Shakedown
Like your music full of fuzz and grit? Well Velvet Starlings have your sorted with their latest offering, Technicolour Shakedown. This one screams early psych vibes with a modern feel. Crunchy guitars and big reverbed drums make up one hell of a tune! Velvet Starlings call LA home but you’d be forgiven for thinking they’re from the UK as they have that classic brit rock sound. With quite an impressive catalogue already in the bag, it’s no wonder Velvet Starlings are making waves all over. We’re very keen to hear more in the future.
Future.exboyfriend – Uhhh
Sunny and dreamy vibes are where we head next. Future.exboyfriend hits the psych notes perfectly on his new single, Uhhh. A big and spatial kind of sound that screams like a sunflower paddock on s summers day. It’s big and bright with it’s rolling bass line and flanged guitar work. If you’re a fan of early Tame Impala or Pond then you’ll be quick to add this one to your playlists. It’s a tune fit for a big roadtrip searching for the never ending waves in summer. The track was recorded, mixed and mastered entirely by future.exboyfriend which shows just how talented this kid really is.
Cal In Red – Act Like
We keep the summer vibe rolling with Cal In Red’s latest single, Act Like. It’s one of the dreamiest tunes I’ve ever heard and it really hits the spot for those who like music that literally sounds like a beach. This one has all the elements of a perfect indie-pop track, cruisy bass lines, huge chords and some very misty vocals. All you want to do is close your eyes and drift away into brightness with this one. It’s like pure afternoon glow. Perfect listening for a long drive with the ocean in sight.
Sabrina – Drive
UK indie-pop artist Sabrina is sure to turn your head on her new single, Drive. This one takes alt-pop and puts it on the map. It’s clever and unique production style shine bright, snappy beats, stuttered synth work and Sabrina’s angelic vocals make for quite the memorable tune. If you’re a fan of FKA Twigs then you’ll be right into this one. Although Sabrina has only released a handful of music she screams the maturity of a true veteran of sound. We’re very keen to hear more from this bright young star!
RUTHEE – Breathe The Same
We keep that real smooth vibe rolling as next up we have a pure delight of tune from RUTHEE with their latest track, Breathe The Same. This one is pure beachside listening, picture scenes of glistening water with sunshine shimmering the light, cause this is exactly that. Ultra fine rolling bass, snappy drums and a chord progression made in heaven make this track scream style and sophistication. Again a band that have only released a handful of tunes but really push a mature delivery and catalogue of sound. Very keen to hear more from these guys.
Aniqa Dear – Right/Wrong
We close out this weeks slap with some real lush, spaced out vibes courtesy of Aniqa Dear and their multi-genre track, Right/Wrong. This one is like a dinner time space spectacle. It has jazzy moments that reminisce a late night speak easy bar but then opens up into a big electronica vibing experience. This one could fit well into the soundtrack of a movie, it’s very well written and has a a vision that is unique and it’s very own. No matter what your genre liking Right /Wrong will carry you away and capture your attention. Keep an eye on these guys as they have a new album coming very soon.
