The Weeknd’s Hired Daft Punk For One Of 2016’s Most Anticipated Tracks
Abel Tesfaye (aka The Weeknd) has brought Daft Punk on board in the first single from the upcoming album ‘Starboy’. The Grammy award-winning artist has dominated charts around the world, so new music has been very long awaited!
The single is the title track off the album, and it’s an absolute banger. You could separate The Weeknd’s soul-tugging vocals and Daft Punk’s popping rhythmic undertone and they would could easily be stand-alone tracks. But thankfully someone had the brilliant idea of introducing these two together and now we get to sit here and enjoy the fruit of their labors.
Starboy is a testimony to how much The Weeknd has grown since his last album ‘Beauty Behind The Madness’. Everything great about his hit track The Hills is done even better in Starboy, invoking even greater emotions into his vocals into his music straight off the bat.
The intro to this track is so smooth you barely even realise that you’re already in the deep end by the time the main chorus is in full swing. We can thank Daft Punk for that little trick, since this intro has a slightly hint of Something About Us in it, a reminder from their glory days (not saying their glory days are over, but, you know what I mean).
But The Weeknd is without a doubt the star of this song, seamlessly blending his R&B vocals into the track and dictating the flow of the rhythm. Weeknd’s ability to create music which draws you in and keeps you hooked is undeniable, and if his track record is anything to go by, this upcoming album will be great!
Thankfully the album is confirmed to be dropped on the 25th of November and we couldn’t be more excited. If Starboy is any indicator of how this album is going to be then we look forward to it being in our playlist for months to come.
