These New South Whales Drop Fierce New Single ‘Instinct’ and Announce 2025 Australian Tour

Punk outfit These New South Whales have returned in full force with their electrifying new single Instinct, paired with the announcement of a national tour this October.

Packed with grit and urgency, Instinct is a fearless call to trust your gut and block out outside noise. Produced and mixed by Ben Greenberg (Show Me The Body, Depeche Mode, Ceremony), the track marries Jamie Timony’s biting vocal delivery with drop-heavy bass, sharp riffs, and pounding percussion — pushing the band’s sound further into hardcore-punk territory while retaining their knack for immediacy.

“I’ve wasted so much energy over the years worrying about what other people think, it’s such a futile, counterproductive pursuit – one of those lessons I’m always having to re-learn. The chorus lyrics are a mantra for a different way of thinking. The vocals felt triumphant and empowering – the song put us all in a really good mood the day we wrote it. Underneath the positivity, there’s a spirit of anger and unrest with the way things are… Now more than ever, it feels important to stay connected to yourself, your instincts, and to what’s actually real.”Jamie Timony, These New South Whales.

Since forming in Melbourne, These New South Whales have earned a reputation as one of Australia’s most dynamic punk acts. Beyond their music, the band have cultivated a cult following through their self-titled Comedy Central mockumentary series, the satirical late-night show TNSW Tonight!, and their long-running podcast What A Great Punk, now approaching 500 episodes.

Their 2022 self-titled album saw them shed any lingering sense of parody, debuting at #9 on the ARIA charts and earning a ‘Best Heavy Album’ nomination at the ARIAs. On stage, they’ve supported heavyweights including Shame, Soft Play, and Grinspoon, and delivered a memorable triple j Like A Version.

This October, they’ll bring Instinct to life across Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle, and Adelaide with supports from Delivery and The Antics.

Instinct is available now, everywhere. Full tour dates and tickets are available below.
