This Guy Thinks He’s Predicted The Triple J Hottest 100’s Top 10 For 2015

Top 10 predictions

Calling himself a “Hottest 100 enthusiast”, Sydney journalist and statistics nut Patrick Avenell believes he knows exactly what the top 10 songs will be on this year’s countdown.

Avenell argued his choices in a very long blog post (over 3000 words!), telling Music Feeds he’s “very confident that those 10 songs will be there or thereabouts. If Australia Day comes around and my posted songs are the top 10 with a lot of them in order, I won’t be overly surprised.”

Among his choices are Drake’s ‘Hotline Bling’, ‘King Kunta’ by Kendrick Lamar, ‘Hoops’ by The Rubens, and taking out the top spot: ‘Lean On’ by Major Lazer, DJ Snake & MØ.

See his full list of Top 10 predictions below.

Avenell says he’s been listening to the Hottest 100 since 1993, and has amassed a tonne of data, collecting it all in multiple spreadsheets. If that’s not dedication, I don’t know what is.

He used the spreadsheets to calculate this year’s Top 10 and put together his mammoth blog post, which you can read in-full HERE.

Avenell also added: “For someone to write 3000 words about it is pretty atypical… It’s unusual for someone to do this. I’m proud of it.”

Yes. Yes it is.
