Tomb Of Doom Deliver Absolute Brutality In New Single “Worm”
Brisbane death metal troubadours Tomb Of Doom have released their latest single, the bemusingly titled Worm, sure to satisfy any and all the death metal cravings you’ve been having lately.
Blastbeats galore and slamming mosh riffs are the order of the day here with the band delivering one of best riffs of their career on the track.
New vocalist Luke Hegarty lays down the some truly guttural growls, while guitarist James Hansen delivers some hard-hitting guitar chugs, creating a truly menacing atmosphere in the process. There’s no overly-complex song time-signatures here, just pure, undiluted death metal at its most brutal, which is what Tomb Of Doom do best!
Worm is the sort of mosh-heavy death metal tune that should get you in the mood to start slamming and two-stepping within seconds. It gets more brutal the longer the song runs…
Hegarty says the lyrics of the song “are just my form of expressing anger and resentment toward the financial system and government that controls every aspect of our lives”.
“Many young people are very, very angry about the fact our economy has been inflated to the point where we will never be able to outright own our own homes or property because of the disparity between the average wage and the cost of housing or land. Negative gearing, which the baby boomers have implemented to line their own pockets has essentially fucked us.
All the while we’ve been raised to aspire to be rich and famous, to buy shit, to consume and ingest products, and food that’s fundamentally destructive to the human mind, body, and spirit not to mention the environment in which we all inhabit… I’m really f*cking pissed off about it,” says Hegarty.
