Trophy Eyes Drop Angsty New Track + Video “Breathe You In”
Newcastle punks Trophy Eyes have released a brand new music video for their song Breathe You In. The track itself is off of their upcoming sophomore album, ‘Chemical Miracle’.
Breathe You In expands upon Trophy Eyes’ previous work, showcasing the bands unique blend of alt-rock and punk. The structure of the music finds the perfect balance of being present and noticeable, whilst still propelling the vocals to the forefront of the track. Rather than being a straightforward major-key punk banger, this is a more delicate and emotional offering from the Newcastle natives. They have incorporated more minor key chords and musical phrasings that work in tandem to create a song with a pervading sense of melancholy. The lead guitar lines are woven throughout the song, creating a delicate, almost fragile feeling, acting as a perfect parallel to the lyrical content.
Lyrically the track confronts lead singer John Floreani’s inability to always be present and provide for his loved ones when he is away on tour. “When I’m away I often wonder if there’s someone out there that could give my partner the life she wants,” said Floreani. “That could be home all the time, and love her and support her at home instead of being on the other side of the world.”
Filmed at New York’s iconic Coney Island, during one of the bands rare days off during their mammoth North American tour with The Amity Affliction, the clip perfectly encapsulates the themes of this track. Floreani looks dejectedly into the camera whilst singing, while the rest of Trophy Eyes’ bandmates enjoy themselves. This contrast shows the audience both sides of being on tour; having fun with your friends, while missing your loved ones back home.
Trophy Eyes have had a huge 2016, which started off with their well-received set at UNIFY Gathering. Having just finished a national tour with The Amity Affliction, the band have headed stateside to support Amity on their most successful North American tour to date, playing sold out shows at huge venues.
‘Chemical Miracle’ is set to be released on Friday 14th of October, and is lining up to be one of the best Australian alternative releases of 2016!
