Kickin’ round since 2013, Brisbane indie-rock darlings Youth Allowance were the buzz of the town late last year after the release of their sublime self-titled EP. We asked the band about what would be their ultimate party ahead of performing at AAA Backstage’s 5th B’day Party at The Foundry.

Who’s hosting the party? Where would it be?

Definitely at Sam’s place, it’s been far too long since we’ve been to his.

Is it themed? If so, what is the theme?

We’ve never been a big theme band, but if we had to pick it would be a poor uni student theme.

Who would most likely to be ‘that guy’ and whip out an acoustic guitar and start singing Wonderwall?

[Will] I’ve played Wonderwall in gigs before but only on request, haha, never at a party though…

What’s the contents of the Kings Cup?

Will – Scotch and Dry, Rei – Wine, Boyd – Jack Daniels, Sam – Goon.

Who’s dominating at beer pong?

A tie between Sam and Boyd.

What’s the party jam? What tunes have everyone dancing?

Recently the new Ball Park Music track Pariah, Matt Corby’s new album ‘Telluric’, Koi Child’s album ‘Koi Child’, and can’t forget our mate Feki’s newest single Thankful.

Who’s most likely to get white girl wasted?

Probably all of us haha, We’re all degenerate drinkers.

Most likely to nominate themselves DJ and change the songs all the time?

(Will) have done this a fair few times haha, but I try and wait till the song ends.

Lastly, what are you most looking forward to about AAA Backstage’s 5th Birthday Party?

(Will) I’ll be turning 21 on Sunday so it’ll be a pre-birthday celebration for me, but the stand-out would probably be seeing Machine Age, I’ve never seen him live but I’ve heard really good things.
