US Rapper Murs Breaks World Record For Longest Rap Sesh
After rapping for 24 hours straight, US rapper Murs is now the Guinness World Record holder for the longest rap marathon! Murs’ attempt victory was a live-streamed event titled #BarsForDays, that consisted of 26 hours total with a five minute break every hour. Even rappers have to pee.
There was no previous Guinness World Record for the longest recorded rap session, but in order to qualify Murs had to keep recording for 24 hours. The idea for the record stemmed from a promotion for Boost Mobile’s unlimited music streaming service. However, since teenage rapper Lil’ Yachty admitted to knowing little about classical rap music, Murs said the challenge became about passing down music knowledge.
“Lil’ Yachty made his statement about not having to know older songs. And then setting this record became more about me paying tribute to the music I grew up [with]. And using this platform to maybe even expose someone younger or unaware to the classics,” he said.
Murs did indeed deliver the classics. He passed the 24 hours by busting out original material, old school classics, and impressive compilations of the two. This might just be our generation’s version of the space landing, check it out below!
