Vallis Alps Return With Feel-Good Single “Fading”

Vallis Alps

Canberra electronic-pop duo, Vallis Alps, who soared onto the music scene in early 2015, are back and ready to ignite summer with their sonic paradise, Fading.

Vallis Alps found their feet with their debut single, Young, which wound up as #27 on 2015’s Hottest 100. They then took to the stage playing festivals such as Splendour In The Grass and Groovin’ The Moo, as well as sold out shows in Australia, London, Paris and the United States.

The duo’s talent is irrefutable, but after hearing Fading, it’s clear that Young was just a launching pad. Their lush new single captures the vast scope of Parissa Tosif’s tender vocals and the immense production talents of David Ansari. It’s not only feel-good in nature, but possesses a glistening, magical quality that will have you hooked on the first play.

“We wanted to make a song that was about pure joy; those moments where you feel exhilarated and ecstatic,” Vallis Alps said. “We want ‘Fading’ to make people happy; to be an escape from the negativity that surrounds us and a reminder of the beauty that is always present – but sometimes hidden”.

An effervescent electronic call and response kickstarts the track, which becomes enveloped by the gentle drop. Cascading melodies take over, while Tosif declares that “this is paradise”. It’s hard not to notice a subtle parallel to the Chainsmokers’ winter smash, Closer. It follows a similar recipe; a brewing electronic sound that collapses underneath a rhythmic undertone and prominent vocal.

Layers begin to form as the electronic undercurrent starts pulsating, indicating the chorus is nearby. As Tosif repeats “this is paradise”, Ansari’s soundscape takes over, giving way to the glistening chorus. Tosif’s vocals lift us to another atmosphere, soaring above expectations, and proving that the Vallis Alps have more up their sleeve.

Fading not only marks their return, but is also the lead single from their forthcoming EP ‘Fable’, which is set for independent release in 2017. In the meantime you can catch Vallis Alps live over summer at Falls Festival! Check out Fading below.
