Voice Of Baceprot Unleash The Powerful Anthem, ‘PMS’

Indonesian rock trio, Voice Of Baceprot (VOB) have returned and are turning heads with their new single, PMS. This one follows on from their remix EP, God Allow Me (please) To Play Music.

Short for Perempuan Merdeka Seutuhnya” or “Wholly Independent Woman” in Bahasa Indonesia, PMS was written way back in 2017 by the trio while they were still in high school.

“We wrote the song fuelled by the remaining energy that we had left after school. At the time, we were up to our necks with school activities, so we basically had to drag ourselves to the studio for workshops,” remembers Marsya, (vocals, guitar)

Coming from a region of Indonesia where social norms are mostly influenced by religion, VOB have endured a considerable amount of gender-based discrimination throughout their musical career, for many girls around them, the only option is marriage after high school.

“Ironically, it’s not just the men who would display such behaviours, but also our fellow women too!”  Marsya remarks.

A musically demanding track, PMS stands as a powerful anthem not only for the women of Indonesia but worldwide. It’s available now, everywhere.
