Warpaint Drops Fresh Single “Whiteout” And Full-Length Album
Friday just got a whole lot better with the release of Whiteout, the brand spanking new track from Warpaint, and the good news doesn’t stop there – the track has been plucked straight of their highly anticipated third album ‘Heads Up’ which is out today! Talk about a hump day treat…
Whiteout is guided by a subtly sweet guitar riff floating beneath waves of falsetto vocals, a soft instrumental perfect for easing your mind. Gentle snares linger in the background as the 4-piece’s falsetto vocals layer over each other, creating a really textured track.
The all-female quartet developed a new creative process over the course of the recording with each member pursuing solo projects before (thankfully) reuniting in January this year. The switch up sparked a sense of “creative freedom” amongst the group and judging by the crisp sound that shines through in Whiteout, it’s safe to say it worked in their favour.
The band has also re-worked their live performances to add a little extra energy. Vocalist and guitarist Emily Kokal says the band’s live show has always been “really jammy and high-energy” compared to their records. “We all love to dance. We didn’t want to take away from the emotion or the core feeling of what our band is all about – which I don’t even think we could take out if we wanted, because it is who we are- but we wanted to bump the speed up and have a bit more fun”.
A whole new set of live vibes, a sparkling new single, and a full-length album – has Christmas come early? We’re not sure, but let’s pray to the North Pole for an Australian tour announcement ASAP!
