TOMGIRL Release Chilling Debut Single And Video

TOMGIRL 2016

Singapore-and-Melbourne-bred noir dark pop duo TOMGIRL have released a chilling debut single with a suspenseful music video to match. The single, Darker Now, is the first track from their self-titled debut album set to release later this year.

The video showcases the duo’s unique sounds and qualities as they’re filmed enjoying themselves running wild around urban streets. The joy doesn’t last long as a bearded man attacks band member Ted Doré, who struggles to fight him off, until he dies, with other member Cherie Ko manically laughing in the background. It’s exciting, suspenseful and capturing in every way, covered both in bright neon lights and darkness all at once.

The song itself is melodically mesmerising. Ko brings the song together, covering it with her sweetly warm vocals. Doré’s energising guitar riffs cut through like glass keeping up the quickening tempo as the video reaches its climax during the fight scene. Mixed with colourful juxtapositions and an alluring bass the impelling rhythm leaves you wanting more.

The elusive duo met back in 2014 at the Laneway Music Festival as they both discovered they each had a love for Shoegaze, 60’s girl groups, brash 90’s music, and cult movies such as Quentin Tarantino films. They began their new musical project forming TOMGIRL with their first debut single together Darker Now.

Their self-titled album is set for release on September 2 and make sure to check out the video below!
