Wherever They Go, OneRepublic Keep The Hits Rolling
Following the international success of their third album ‘Native’, OneRepublic have done what many other bands struggle to do, taking their latest single Wherever I Go in a new and oh-so-catchy direction.
The track starts with simmering synthesisers beneath frontman Ryan Tedder’s instantly-recognisable vocals, showing off the band’s penchant for poetic lyrics. “I know I could lie but I’m telling the truth/Wherever I go, there’s a shadow of you/I know I could try looking for something new/But wherever I go, I’ll be looking for you”.
In the second chorus rhythmic bass guitar and steady drums create an edgy rock vibe, and by the third reprise anthematic synth and smooth falsetto harmonies have transformed the track into a fresh electro-pop number. This new single has all the ingredients to be OneRepublic’s next big hit, with something for the uninitiated as well as long-time fans.
Wherever I Go is the first taste of what’s to come from the band’s fourth studio album, a new twist on the characteristic charm and style fans have come to expect. The quintet have also announced they’ll bring their stack of hits to Australian stages in June – dates TBA!
