Whiskey Jack and Kiera Jas Join Forces on Soulful Folk Single ‘Old Expressions’

Boorloo/Perth artists Whiskey Jack and Kiera Jas have unveiled their heartwarming new collaboration Old Expressions, a track that beautifully fuses their individual artistry into a luminous folk and alt-country blend.

After sharing stages across Perth and curating their own intimate Fremantle event, Soak in the Folk, the pair’s creative chemistry now finds its fullest expression in this new single. Whiskey Jack, known for his nomadic sound, poetic lyricism, and timeless vocals, pairs effortlessly with Kiera Jas’ bright melodies, soulful lyrics, and multi-instrumental prowess. Together, they craft a nostalgic yet fresh take on Australiana storytelling.

“Even when a relationship feels old and familiar, you still find golden moments together—those deep, intimate understandings of each other’s expressions and mannerisms that no one else would notice the way you do.” Kiera Jas.

With Kiera’s electric guitar complementing Jack’s acoustic strums, and Amy Skellern’s stirring cello adding depth, Old Expressions is a softly luminous exploration of love’s evolving nature. Produced by Andrew Lawson, the track’s layered harmonies and homespun instrumentation evoke the warmth of a sunset on a wide verandah—inviting listeners to reflect, remember, and embrace change.

“A key theme in Old Expressions is an awareness when everything is seemingly perfect, a reluctance for change regardless of its inevitability. Taking photos to remember, the unravelling of a relationship as it deepens and the pleasant charm of a surprise.”Jack Dachef.

Old Expressions is available now, everywhere.
