Why We Can Look Forward To Colours’ Debut Album

Colours band 2016

Florida pop-electronic duo Colours have released their latest song Slow, in preparation for the release of their debut albums ‘Ivory’ later this month.

The band, which formed in 2013 and comprises of vocalist Kyle Tamo and drummer Morgan Alley, started after the pair met while playing together in a hardcore band. The genre flip has served them well, as their hardcore background breathes new life into the electronic scene.

Riding the wave of synth-heavy electro-pop that has been made popular in recent times, Colours’ new song Slow is the fourth to be released from the band’s debut album, following the success of the album’s first single Monster.

The song’s verses feature Tamo’s vocals drenched in reverb, as he coos about opening up to someone new. The chorus bursts through as he exclaims “I wanna feel your body next to mine”, over an arpeggiated heavy synth. This contrast between verse and chorus is a theme in Colours’ songs as they start off soft, building in intensity and emotion in the chorus.

The vocals themselves reflect those often found in a boyband or solo pop artist, but strangely work in an electro-pop setting, creating an almost nostalgic quality to the songs.

Colours’ debut album ‘Ivory’ is set to be released on Friday 26th February.
