Y.O.G.A Teams Up with Jimmy Barnes for Genre-Bending New Single ‘Comin’ Up’
Indie country sensation Y.O.G.A has unveiled his most ambitious collaboration yet with the release of his new single Comin’ Up, featuring the legendary Jimmy Barnes. The electrifying track blends country, blues, and Americana with a pulsating EDM edge, creating a genre-defying anthem that’s somewhat impossible to resist.
This collaboration marks a milestone for Y.O.G.A.’s Reuben Styles, fulfilling a dream eight years in the making. Their partnership began serendipitously in 2016, when Barnes enthusiastically encouraged Styles to create some “bangers.” Fast forward to now, Comin’ Up emerged as the perfect track to showcase Barnes’ iconic voice, delivering powerful harmonies and an unforgettable vocal crescendo.
“I first met Jimmy at the 2016 APRA Music Awards and it planted a seed I’ll never forget. He said something along the lines of “let’s make some f*ckin bangers!” and once I started dabbling in this cow☆tech era with Y.O.G.A., I started feeling like the right song for Jimmy was getting closer. The song was co-written with Blake O’Connor and from the get-go it was pretty apparent Jimmy Barnes had to be the vocalist. For years I had been waiting for this moment. I reached out, thinking “f*ck, imagine if Jimmy replies,” then he emailed me saying, “You dream it and I’ll scream it.” It was quite possibly the best email I have received.
