YAGKI Returns With New Single, ‘Something I Do’
Sydney alt-pop sensation, YAGKI, has today dropped her first 2024 single, Something I Do. Under the production of Yianni Adams (Betty, Kyoshi) and mixed by James Guido (LAU, Lucy Sugerman), this track marks YAGKI’s artistic evolution following her rebrand from Sarah Yagki.
Something I Do blends celestial synths, delicate guitar riffs, and rich vocals, creating an intimate yet expansive soundscape. The song carries R&B undertones and nostalgic lo-fi vibes, reflecting on YAGKI’s traumatic childhood coma and its lasting impact. “It’s about emptiness and the challenges of forming connections,”YAGKI explains.
The accompanying music video, directed by Max Pasalic (BESTIES), enhances the track’s enigmatic essence. Urban, studio, and domestic scenes, interspersed with vibrant, red-filtered close-ups, create a compelling visual experience.
YAGKI’s rebrand promises a captivating new chapter in her musical journey, with Something I Do set to echo with fans old and new.
