Years & Years’ New Track Has Bridget Jones Style Desperation

years-years-press-release

British electronic trio Years & Years have give us the first taste of their new Y&Y in over a year, but the new single Meteorite isn’t that rock-ing…

The new track is high-energy and definitely suits the new Bridget Jones’ motion picture soundtrack, but we feel it’ll only sound good in the movie.

“We wanted to make something unashamedly disco and upbeat. I can’t wait for people to hear it!” says singer Olly Alexander.

Although the track certainly is upbeat, it doesn’t build or drop in the right places which may leave you unsatisfied and awkwardly head-bobbing in-da-club/office.

Now we don’t expect a banger to make us contemplate the human condition, but repetitive lines like “hit me like a meteorite”  and “love me like it’s the last night” lack inspiration.

The main reason we’re disappointed with Years & Years’ new single is our high expectations of the band following their previous album ‘Communion’ and fully certified TUNE King.

The trio are set start work on their next album later this year, so we’re hoping they’ll win us back with some more Years & Years-esque bangers.

Check Meteorite out for yourself on our “The Weekly Catch” Spotify playlist below (plz FOLLOW), or just listen to King beneath it…
