Yeo Nails Japanese Wallpaper Cover & Keytar Solo For Like A Version
It’s that time of the week again where we get treated to some serious heat thanks to the people over at triple j. Melbourne-based multi-instrumentalist and producer Yeo graced this morning’s Like A Version, flexing his skills with a live version of his track Icarus, and an incredible cover of Japanese Wallpaper’s Forces.
Presenting a much darker and more organic interpretation of Forces, Yeo rocked the keytar, yes you read correctly, the keytar! Joined only by a drummer on the side, he stayed true to this stripped back sound all the while keeping the cover upbeat and totally jammable.
The first half of the cover features a beautiful blend of classic piano chords entangled with ambient electronic sounds accented with a deep, hard hitting sub bass. And let’s not forget Yeo’s raspy and down to earth voice too; his tone just gently guides you through the track so calmly.
Just as you thought it couldn’t get any better, Yeo totally switches it up, swapping out that piano to a gritty 80s synth, busting an absolutely massive keytar solo that will leave you absolutely awestruck. All praise Yeo the keytar god!
