ZOE from Earth Shines Bright with Debut Release, ‘The Sun EP’

QLD indie-folk artist ZOE from Earth has unveiled her debut EP, The Sun EP. This collection, featuring a mix of previously released tracks, offers a captivating journey filled with wonder and a deep sense of natural connection.

Warm and rich in its delivery from start to finish, the EP kicks off with Prelude, an opening track that brims with uplifting energy and a sense of anticipation. As the EP progresses, the enchanting melodies of “Fire” stand out, showcasing ZOE’s unique and intriguing songwriting abilities.

Written over several challenging years, *The Sun EP* distills these experiences into 20 minutes of gentle, soothing energy, wrapping the listener in a comforting embrace. Each track contributes to the overall warmth and richness of the EP, making it a standout debut for ZOE from Earth.

“The Sun EP was born out of a period of writing and recording on the road when collaborations formed that would go on to influence its direction. Co-producer of the title track Sun David J Gillett approached me after hearing the song live at a local permaculture and music festival (Formidle Vegetable’s Circle of Trees Festival). The collaboration with Barefoot Bands, a project by Brenton Meynell (BMP) and Drew Goddard (Karnivool), came about after I played at WAMfest and led to a 10-date tour that included starting the recording of the Sun EP while I was on tour. Then, returning to the East Coast, I took on the rest of the production and spent significant time refining the sound around the foundations we had built together.

During this time, lockdowns happened and I was involved in two motor vehicle accidents a year apart. The whole music landscape had changed, but I was set on producing the record I had in mind anyway. During this time I was streaming music twice a week online, but after the second accident opted out of streaming and turned my focus to the production away from the online scene.

Four years after laying the initial tracks, the final vocals were re-recorded with Colin Wynne (Thirty-Mill Studio) where mixing was completed. I had strong visual ideas for each song, and the next stage was video production. By the time I got to the edit for the fourth single (Horizon), combining lyric and music video was what I wanted to create for the visualiser.

I love this medium and I think I will continue to create like this, it feels good to see the lyricism and visual symbolism in the same space, working together, especially for This Too Shall Pass where there’s a lot of symbolism in the lyrics. It helps to portray the message with added visual imagery to set the scene and tell the story. Being the final song and video for the Sun EP, it feels good to let this one fly so I can move on to the next body of work.”

The most recent release from the EP, closing track, This Too Shall Pass comes with a dreamy accompanying video, which today we bring the very first viewing of below. The video is the perfect companion to this track, showcasing the connection between audio and video.

From start to end this EP is sure to resonate with all music lovers. ZOE from Earth’s stunning body of work is available now, everywhere.
