Songs That Will Put A Spring In Your Step
GLASS ANIMALS with Life Itself
Be still my beating heart, Glass Animals are back with their buzzing new track Life Itself! The single is a taster of their highly anticipated second album ‘How To Be A Human Being’, and by the sounds of it, it’s going to be one delicious peanut butter slice.
Known for their atmospheric otherworldliness, Glass Animals have once again lived up to their reputation, transporting us to a world of vivacious harp strumming and African percussion. This exotic, off-kilter earworm is spun with Dave Bayley’s distinctive falsetto, and tells the tale of a wallflower.
Bayley explained the track is about “a guy who was born a bit strange, and struggles to become part of society. Because of that he spends more time alone in his own head, getting stranger, and it becomes an awful cycle of doom”.
It’s honest, erratic, and a sensational return by Glass Animals. We’ve missed their sonic masterpieces, and it looks like they’ve missed us too given they’re touring Australia in July! Get your tickets HERE
TRÈ SAMUELS with Flying Without You
The music scene has got it’s sexy back with Trè Samuels’ debut release Flying Without You. Described as “The Weeknd on sedatives”, Trè’s smooth soulful voice is bound to melt hearts.
Despite its mellow instrumentation, the song is a powerful declaration of independence. Doubling as a model, the lyrics describe the singer-songwriter’s encounters within the whirlwind of the fashion industry. Trè says, “people…show love at the beginning but then show their true colours when things are going great or bad”.
Proving he’s a man of many talents, this track is sure to land Trè at the heart of the R&B scene. Keep an eye out for his upcoming EP ‘Lost In Translation’.
MOSSY with Ginsberg
Sydney actor-turned-musician Mossy has emerged from a New York basement with his debut EP in hand! Following his woozy lead single Electric Chair, he has delivered another stellar track with his new single Ginsberg.
After marinating in the darkness, Mossy is ready “scream something obscene”. The beautifully descriptive lyrics ooze a desperation for fresh air and release. Creeping through the verses, Mossy’s intense vocals convey his claustrophobia and vulnerability. Rather than continuing to scream into a pillow, Mossy frees himself as the song erupts into the infectious chorus.
With his unique blend of psychedelic pop infused with theatrical storytelling, Mossy is definitely one to watch. You can catch him at The Oxford Circus in Sydney next Friday for FREE! For more information click HERE and read our interview with Mossy HERE.
