Australian Songwriting Extravaganza 50 Songs In 5 Days Returns
Christmas has come early for the Aussie music scene, with the fifth round of 50 Songs In 5 Days about to kick off on Monday the 12th of December!
Held over one week at Studios 301 in Sydney, 50 Songs In 5 Days is a songwriting event designed to give up-and-coming Australian songwriters and artists the opportunity to collaborate with some of the best songwriters and producers in the biz. The invitation-only event is curated by independent music publishers Specific Music in partnership with APRA AMCOS.
“50 Songs was born from a conversation with Robert Conley at the SongHubs sponsored Bali Songwriting Camp in 2010 and over the last five years has produced some amazing outcomes,” said Milly Petriella, APRA AMCOS Director of Member Relations.
Previous participants have included the likes of Jarryd James, Jon Hume (Evermore, Matt Corby), Tina Arena, Lisa Mitchell, and M-Phazes (Eminem, Illy), and the 2016 guest list is equally impressive. Established Australian artists and producers attending this year’s event will include Urthboy, Montaigne, Tom Busby (Busby Marou), Thelma Plum, KLP, Jake Stone, Ilan Kidron (Potbelleez), Rai Thistlwethwayte (Thirsty Merc), who will be joined by international songwriters and producers including J Hart (US – Usher, Justin Bieber, Fifth Harmony, Keith Urban), Dr R. (Japan), and P. Money (NZ – Starley Hope – Call On Me).
These big names will be mentoring some of Australia’s exciting new talent such as Kota Banks, Evan Klar, Yeah Boy, Polarheart, Thief, Mike Waters, Elaska, Woodes, and producers including LK McKay (Tkay Maidza), Benjamin McCarthy (Gordi, Alex The Astronaut), One Above (Illy), and Louis Schoorl (Jessica Mauboy, Daniel Johns).
With so much creativity, collaboration, and most likely caffeine in one place, we are feeling very hopeful that 2016’s 50 Songs In 5 Days will deliver some very sonically satisfying tracks.
