Dawson Unveils Dreamy New Single, ‘More Than I Bargained For’ plus B-Side

Perth-based indie folk artist Dawson continues to captivate with the release of his latest single, More Than I Bargained For, along with its B-side, If I Could Read You, Would I Want To? Both tracks, which dropped today, showcase Dawson’s exceptional talent for composition, blending modern electronic elements with a nostalgic indie-alt vibe.

More Than I Bargained For” is a powerful exploration of apathy and discontent in relationships, where heavy drums and lush guitar work create an ambient, emotional soundscape. Dawson’s rich vocals deliver a raw portrayal of the frustration and confusion that come with feeling stuck, unable to determine if the problem lies within oneself or the other person.

“‘More than I bargained for’ is a song about feelings of apathy and discontent in a relationship, like no matter what you try you always end up in the same place. It’s also about not knowing whether these feelings are a result of something changing within yourself or someone else.” – Dawson.

On the flip side, If I Could Read You, Would I Want To? offers a contrasting sonic experience. This B-side track dives into the complexities of communication in relationships, using sparkling synths to craft a sci-fi-inspired, electronic daze. It highlights the challenges of expressing thoughts without causing harm, making it the perfect counterpart to the A-side.

Dawson’s ability to balance introspective lyrics with compelling compositions continues to set him apart in the indie music scene, making these new releases a must-listen for fans.
