Essie Holt Captivates With Her Striking Songwriting On ‘Distant Places’

Essie Holt

Melbourne singer-songwriter Essie Holt has revealed an entirely new side to her songwriting on her latest single Distant Places, which features recent tour-mate, LANKS.

The melancholic yet captivating track was written in an hour and features only vocals and piano, but is her most raw and stunningly beautiful track to date. LANKS’ feature adds a beautiful dynamic to the track, with the two contrasting vocals combining gracefully to create the perfect remedy for a broken heart.

Essie has described Distant Places as, “My most personal song yet,” and has admitted that the inspiration for the song stemmed from her own experience with a recent heartbreak. Essie goes on to say, “It’s my favourite thing I’ve ever written.”

The single was a winner of the triple j Unearthed and NIDA film clip competition, which premiered on Rage. Essie is definitely on the rise to fame with her previous singles being added to many Spotify playlists and being featured on Apple Music’s ‘Best of the Week’. Essie is currently working on her debut EP with Mark Zito of Fractures, which is due for release in early-2019.

If Distant Places is anything to go by, we are confident that Essie’s debut EP will be one to look out for!
