Fresco Kyoto Drop Shimmering New Single ‘Whatever You Say’
Brisbane band Fresco Kyoto release their first offering of 2020, atmospheric and ethereal track ‘Whatever You Say’.
This young indie-pop group have a growing following, with their recent performances including a sold-out headline show at The Zoo, as well as supports with Greta Stanley, Jaguar Jonze and Cousin Tony’s Brand New Firebird. Following up on their 2019 debut EP ‘Crave For Colour’, ‘Whatever You Say’ builds upon their previous delicate sound and adds some fresh new flavour into the mix.
Recorded between The Moon Room and Hunting Ground Studios in Brisbane, this single follows a period of soul-searching in which the band honed their influences into something distinctly their own. The song rides along a wave of melodic instrumentals, haunting harmonies and powerful lyrics to create a stirring indie-pop masterpiece. Frontman Robbie Balmer shines on this track, showcasing his vocal range by skilfully transitioning from lighter, wistful tones to the dynamic chorus.

Fresco Kyoto clarify the melancholic meaning of the track, explaining “it’s about feeling you could have an emotional connection with someone, except there are unseen barriers preventing anything from happening. And even though you know it’s possible things could change; in reality you know that it’s more likely they won’t”. Co-written and co-produced by Aidan Hogg (Jaguar Jonze, Holy Holy, Hatchie), ‘Whatever You Say’ is an evocative piece of artistry that displays their promising talent as musicians.
As soon as circumstances allow, Fresco Kyoto plan on hitting the road for an east coast tour in support of ‘Whatever You Say’. Until then, be sure to check out the single and watch the accompanying music video out now!
