GIG SPOTLIGHT: Brisbabes Is Back With Another Brilliant Line-up!
Longing for a girl’s night out? Brisbabes is back for round four and by golly they’ve got a show for you! You can catch Georgia Mae, Yucca, San Mei, Alice Ivy, and Moodie Gloom in one place just a few months from now!
Electro-pop songstress Georgia Mae is set to follow up her Queensland Music Awards nomination for her single Time With You with a Brisbabes headline slot! Inspired by her experience as a sound engineer and producer, Georgia Mae’s music merges futuristic electronic production with modern pop vocals. After the release of her second single Keeper of the Key, we’re expecting big things from Georgia Mae’s upcoming EP!
Dream pop 5-piece Yuuca are following up their first two singles Breathe and Melt with a slot in the Brisbabes line-up! The band are preparing to drop their third single in mid-2016, and with a list of influences including Snakadaktal, Panama, Grimes, and Beach Fossils, it should be another winner!
Gold Coast indie-pop artist Emily Hamilton a.k.a. San Mei kicked off her solo career in 2013 and has since been tipped as an artist to watch. Her single ‘Brighter’ is an energetic mix of infectious beats, deep synthesisers, and sweet, airy vocals – an intriguing taste of what’s to come from this emerging songstress.
Alt-pop artist Annika Schmarsel a.k.a. Alice Ivy has given away the clarinet and the guitar in favour of beat-making. Taking inspiration from The Avalanches, J Dilla, and Bonobo, her latest single Touch ft. Georgia Van Etten is a blend of soothing synths, touches of jazzy saxophone, and Schmarsel’s surprisingly pure vocals.
Last but not least are folk-rock duo Moodie Gloom. Taking inspiration from the quirky style of Regina Spektor and the indie-folk vibes of American 5-piece The National, we’re expecting great things from their upcoming EP!
