Hey Geronimo Are Crashing Into a Tour

Hey Geronimo Crash Into the Sun Press

Hey Geronimo (not to be confused with that Sheppard song) are heading out on the road in support of their debut album ‘Crashing Into The Sun’, which is set for  release at the beginning of July. The band will be playing dates all along the east coast along with Adelaide, giving punters their first opportunity to hear some new material live.

The Brisbane quintet have been playing catchy indie-pop since their self-titled 2012 debut EP and they’ve spent the last 12 months in the studio working on their newest music. The tour will also be the first chance for the band’s newest member Pluto Jonze to show off his wicked keyboard skills.

Frontman Pete Kilroy says, “As music fans ourselves, there’s nothing more we dig than seeing a band playing new songs live and really nailing the performance. Hopefully that feeling is something people will experience during this set of shows.”

The band are known for their exceptionally upbeat quirky tracks. The lead single from the new album, Boredom, pairs a heavy, grating, rhythm guitar line with piercing organ chords and a twanging lead line. This is all topped off with vocal harmonies that are bordering on screaming, that may leave you wondering how this song holds together so well with its mismatched ingredients.

Another song on the album is the previously released, fast paced single Carbon Affair. Handclaps, drum fills, and an almost-latin beat sets the foundation for a busy lead guitar and soaring vocal harmonies. It wouldn’t be out of place to expect similar sounds from other tracks on ‘Crashing Into The Sun’.

It’s already been a very busy year for Hey Geronimo. In February, they completed the Longest Shortest Tour, performing ten shows in the course of one day all over Sydney. Also in February the band released their cameo-overloaded video for Boredom, paying tribute to TISM.
