Peer Into The Shop Window With New Bop ‘Evacuate’
The Shop Window has just offered up their latest slice of indie-pop goodness with single ‘Evacuate’.
Fronted by the dynamic duo of Carl Mann (vocals/guitars) and Simon ‘Syd’ Oxlee (vocals/keys), The Shop Window has already released two well-received singles before this, ‘Mannequin Lies’ and ‘Reflection’.
‘Evacuate’ is a bouncy feel-good jangle, dripping with wildly nostalgic vibes. The quirky yet familiar sound is the sonic equivalent to watching an old home video- warm and comforting. Built over a base of classic drums, the song is padded with catchy melodies and cheerful guitars lines that come together to create something wonderfully light.

Commenting on the lyrics of ‘Evacuate’, composer Carl said: “it has a fairly ambiguous lyric. It stems from a desire to put down roots and have a place to call home. Endless moves created endless anxiety – nine years, nine moves.”
He further explained that “‘Evacuate’ came about while tinkering around on guitar with my four-year-old. He inspired the riff that runs throughout most of the song with his hilarious dance moves. He provokes a joyous melody from me as well! Simon helped to flesh out some of the lyrics until we got to a place that felt right”.
The Shop Window has just completed recording their debut album ‘The State Of Being Human’ so keep an eye out for the release & in the meantime have a listen to ‘Evacuate’!
