Red Hot Chili Peppers have confirmed their performance in tomorrow’s Burbank iHeart Radio show is postponed due to frontman Anthony Kiedis’ hospitalisation. The band were also forced to cancel the Californian leg of the KROQ Radio American tour after Kiedis experienced “extreme stomach pain” and was diagnosed with intestinal flu complications.

The tour organisers tweeted the Chilli Peppers had been forced to cancel their KROQ Weenie Roast set half an hour after the show was due to start. Following the announcement bassit Michael “Flea” Balzary, guitarist Josh Klinghoffer, and drummer Chad Smith took the stage to apologise to the crowd.

“We live to rock, we live to f*cking dig deep into the depths of our hearts and rock, but unfortunately there’s a medical thing that happened and we needed to deal with it, so we’re unable tonight. We will play for you very soon, we will play for you like the feral animals that we are, and we’re so sorry,” Flea said.

Smith also took to Twitter after the cancelled gig on Saturday night to apologise to fans. “No one’s more disappointed than us that we couldn’t perform tonight. Sending love and a speedy recovery to my brother Anthony,” he said.

The Chili Peppers have since issued a statement confirming Kiedis is expected to make a full recovery soon and thanking fans for their well-wishes. The band still have shows booked at Rock in Columbus, Ohio and BottleRock in Napa, California later this month, followed by festival appearances at Reading, Leeds, and Lollapalooza.
