Rising Star Maisyn Treats Us With Her New Indie-Pop Tune ‘Better Being Heartless’

Los Angeles-based indie pop-rocker Maisyn has just dropped another absolute bop- ‘Better Being Heartless’.

Following her stunning debut single ‘Cool Grl’, which was featured in a bunch of top playlists and received glowing praise from music publications, this new track is a strong affirmation of her growing talent. With a sound floating somewhere between Phoebe Bridgers and HAIM, Maisyn’s music is powered by emotional force and a knack for shooting a sonic arrow straight to the heart.

This introspective track was produced by Grammy-nominated engineer Joey Messina-Doerning (HAIM, Women in Music Pt. III), and enlists classic indie-rock elements to create an upbeat candy treat featuring energetic guitars and embellished with lush synths. In ‘Better Being Heartless’ Maisyn begs the question – would life be easier if we could give less of a fuck? She’s captured that post-heartbreak desire to stop feeling in order to never get hurt again, exploring the idea of slipping into an indifferent persona set to a super catchy tune. She explains, “I’m deeply sensitive and analytical, and sometimes it dawns on me how much time I spend assessing and reassessing scenarios in my head. ‘Better Being Heartless’ kind of tells the story of an alter-ego, a girl who rips her heart out of her chest and doesn’t consider the consequence. In the context of this song the idea of being ‘heartless’ is actually about relinquishing control and living on my own terms.”
