Shoegazers Dream Rimmy Release Single “Waves”, Melts Brains

Dream Rimmy

Perth shoegaze outfit Dream Rimmy dropped their single Waves a few months ago, but it’s finally landed in our inbox. So hold onto your butts ’cause this one is mind-melting trip all on its own!

The track is 6:21 of the kinds of sounds you can only hope for in a shoegaze track. Thick, fuzzy guitars are doubled, and thickened even further with a helping of a variety of sounds that swirl and float through the background of the track.

Synthesisers and heavily distorted guitars chime and whistle, piercing through the fuzzy foreground. The looping baseline blends seamlessly with the cymbal-heavy drum beat to create an entrancing sound.

This is the kind of track that you’d wish for at the end of a set, when you want to just get lost in the sounds washing around you. Smooth vocal harmonies play between the background sounds, and you would be forgiven for thinking you’d stumbled across an unreleased song from the Murlocs, Pond, or even one of the more experimental Oasis tracks…at a stretch.

The band formed in 2014, and have already been cutting it up over on the west coast, supporting psych heroes King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, The Preatures, and Oxford-based fellow shoegazers Swervedriver. They’ve also shown their faces on a few big festival lines ups like State of The Art, alongside You Am I and Birds of Tokyo.

The sextet is gearing up to release the follow up to Waves and then will be heading to the studio to work on their second EP later in the year. Check out Waves and Dream Rimmy’s live show below!
