Sovereign Compel You To Break ‘The Chain’ With New Track

Copenhagen-based indie-pop/rock group Sovereign have just dropped their second single, ‘The Chain’.

The trio, consisting of childhood friends August Andersen, Louis Gjerrild, and Frederik Milland, impressed with their debut track “Smitten by Love”, with ‘The Chain’ now confirming their promise as artists. Their music encourages listeners to indulge in their emotions, with honest and relatable lyrics and soundscapes that have a big festival feel.

‘The Chain’ is an anthemic coming-of-age track, fizzing with dreamy guitar, pops of dark bass and generous layers of synths. Driving drums serve as a perfect background to the reverbed vocals that ring out passionately throughout the track, which was mixed by sound engineer Joël Krozer (Barselona, Smerz).

Frederik, the bassist and singer, explained that “The idea for ‘The Chain’ came from the conception of two lovers breaking up and realizing how difficult that can be when the love is still present. It’s about liberating yourself or another person in the most loving way possible while trying to keep your shit together.”

Check out ‘The Chain’ now and be sure to stay tuned for more danceable tunes from these Danish upcomers!
