The Beautiful Girls’ ‘Beautiful World’ Is This Year’s Summer Anthem

The Beautiful Girls—also known as Matt McHugh to most—has been on a constant worldwide journey, which has been fuelled by his joyous new single, Beautiful World.

Following a successful European and UK tour—including a historic performance at the infamous O2 Academy in London—The Beautiful Girls is back on home turf and ready to aptly soundtrack your upcoming balmy summer days. The famed multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter has always had a knack for crafting laid-back and spacious folk-rock. On Beautiful World, McHugh takes it to a whole other world.

The track, according to McHugh, is, “based in my love of ‘80s digital dancehall.” As adventurous as that sounds, it was also inspired by the ghetto community of Waterhouse in Jamaica’s west Kingston Town. Those influences run deep through this track—from McHugh’s breezy lyrics to his washout and sun-drenched guitar sounds. As usual, he keeps instrumental minimum but uses it to their absolute best effect. The tonalities are psyched out and in keeping with his summery theme.
