The Purple Haze Descends, Baroness Announce Aussie Headlining Tour

Baroness

Progressive metallers Baroness are returning to Australia for a run of shows this December. The tour, which happens to be the band’s first Aussie headlining tour, is in support of their latest album ‘Purple’.

The band’s previous visits to Australia have been momentous to say the least. Their 2010 appearances were alongside Lamb of God as support for Metallica’s ‘World Magnetic’ tour. The band then returned in 2014 to play that year’s Soundwave festival.

The group’s 2015 album ‘Purple’ was the first album since their 2012 bus crash in England, which left the band with severe injuries, although thankfully no fatalities. The album charted at #70 on the Billboard 200, and contained the two singles Chlorine & Wine and Shock Me.

The group formed in 2003 in Savannah, Georgia, and adhered to a DIY punk ethic, booking their own tours and screen printing their own merch. The band’s discography is a colourful one, from their debut album ‘The Red Album’ to their most recent offering ‘Purple’.  ‘Red Album’ and its follow-up ‘Blue Record’ firmly cemented the band’s position in the metal world with their new take on alternative metal.

The following double album ‘Yellow & Green’ saw the band slightly change their musical direction to more alternative and post-rock elements. The band’s shows are not to be missed, and will definitely be a highlight in any metal fans calendars! Check below for tour dates and the ticket link.
