Explosions In The Sky ‘Straya Bound

Explosions In The Sky

Undoubted kings of post-rock Explosions In The Sky will be returning to Australia for a slew of theatre shows in 2017, bringing their beautiful soundscapes to equally beautiful venues.

Explosions in the Sky have been at the forefront of the post-rock genre for a number of years, with seven albums under their belt including ‘The Wilderness’ which came out earlier this year. Along with this, Explosions In The Sky are well-known for their theatrical work providing spectacular soundtracks for movies in-between their album output.

Making use of heavily effected guitars, multi-layered production, and masterful drums, each layer is a masterstroke in the sound painting of their music. A live show from Explosions In The Sky is always an unreal experience, almost like an out-of-body experience or as if you’re ascending into another galaxy. Long story short, don’t miss out on this one!

Son Little About To Pop His Aussie Tour Cherry

son-little-road

American producer and genre-crossing innovator Son Little will be touring Australia for the first time in late November in support of this 2016 self-titled debut album. With his repertoire boasting a quality mixture of soul, RnB, and blues, his solo shows will have your feet shuffling while your heads fills with all the feels…we can’t wait!

Son Little was born to a preacher and a teacher in Los Angeles, where he learned how to listen and how to play before moving east to New York and New Jersey. Little dropped in and out of schools and scenes in Manhattan and then Philadelphia, where he collaborated with both The Roots and RJD2.  The songs on his self-titled debut-album draw inspiration from the diaspora of American music to create something familiar, warm, and moving.

RÜFÜS Announce “Places We’ve Missed” National Tour

rufus-promo-pic-oct-201

Fresh off the back of their five ARIA 2016 nominations and several laps of the globe touring, Sydney electronic kings RÜFÜS have just announced an epic 13-date regional tour!

The ‘Full Bloom Tour’ will see the trio play shows in regional destinations previously missed during their sold-out Australian tour in May earlier this year. The tour marks the one-year anniversary of their ridiculously good sophomore album ‘Bloom’, and will be the last chance for Aussie audiences to see RÜFÜS live before they take time off touring to start work on their next album (yay!).

“We’ve been talking about doing a full summer tour of Australia for such a long time but have never found the right time for it until now. Spending the Australian summer out on the road with friends playing in all these beautiful places, half of which we’ve never been to…it’s something that’s really exciting. We’ve got a healthy mix of outdoor shows in this run to try to take advantage of those summer nights,” said RÜFÜS.

They’re also releasing somewhat new music in the form of the ‘Innerbloom’ remix pack this Friday, and a length music video for Innerbloom, directed by Katzki and renowned Australian artist Jack Vanzet, is also said to be dropping soon! Check out the ‘Full Bloom Tour’ dates below and our January interview with drummer James Hunt HERE

Osaka ‘Manoeuvres’ EP Tour

osaka-2

Less than a month after unleashing their debut EP ‘Manoeuvres’, Melbourne upstarts Osaka have returned with an ominous music video for their single Weights along with an east coast tour announcement.

Stepping up from their past sound the band create music that is ideal for that hazy midnight dance floor. As such the video is unsettling with its grungy urban aesthetics and interpretive movement. “It talks about carrying someone or something’s weight…and what would happen if you just allowed the weight to crush you? Or if you gave up on why you carried it,” says frontman Edvard Hakansson.

Quoting influences of The Strokes, Foals, Phoenix, and The Killers, Osaka bring their own brand of indie rock only updated for the electronic era. Blending driving guitars with programmed synths and Hakansson’s intimate yet oblique lyrics, Osaka’s post-indie sound knows its origins but happily travels in a different direction. Read our review of Osaka’s EP ‘Manoeuvres’ HERE and check out the tour dates and Weights video below!

Slumberhaze East Coast Tour

slumberhaze

Sydney outfit Slumberhaze are set to bring their genre-defying sound on a national tour in support of their latest single Silence.

The new song speaks of a man with schizophrenia that finds catharsis in the woman of his dreams. “Her memory encapsulates and defines his conscious being, both easing his affliction with comfort and guidance, while in turn leading to painful withdrawals as the memory slowly fades,” says vocalist Sasha.

Opening with crushed ‘8-bit’ beats the song diverges into two directions. The verse features a chugging hip-hop beat with deep synthesisers and urging vocals. The chorus introduces stabbing guitars, swirling strings, and robust drums which form a sound that is familiar yet just out of reach.

Mansionaire Announce Easier Tour

mansionair

Sydney beats ‘n chill makers Mansionair are taking their latest dreamy soundscape Easier for a short road trip in late November. The silky track is the lead single from their upcoming debut album, set for release sometime in 2017.

Written in the living room of producer/guitarist Lachlan Bostock’s house, Easier was loosely inspired by a scene from Sofia Coppola’s seminal film ‘Lost In Translation’.

“Easier is written for the moments you find yourself lying on your bed staring at the ceiling and wondering if things will change. It explores the endless piles of questions we can find ourselves asking those around us and the frustration of feeling like you’re going nowhere,” said frontman Jack Froggatt.

Ahead of the Easier single launch tour, Mansionair will also perform at two parties for Red Bull’s Sound Select series. After extensive runs with The Rubens, CHVRCHES, and Foals, we can’t wait to hear both old and fresh tunas from these guys!

In Hearts Wake Announce Final Shows of ‘Duality’ Album Cycle

ihw_june-2016_high-res-kane-hibberd
Byron Bay’s environmentally friendly metalcore crew In Hearts Wake have announced the final dates for their ‘Duality’ album cycle. Accompanied by label mates Columbus and The Brave, In Hearts Wake will play three intimate shows including the final show in their hometown where it all began.

With nearly 18 months of non-stop touring under their belt, including a full run of the famous Vans Warped Tour, In Hearts Wake will be in fine form for these shows.

The band’s dual albums ‘Earthwalker’ and ‘Skydancer’ were recorded simultaneously in secret before being released. The success of both of these albums catapulted the band to a new level of success, evident with their recent announcement as support for nu-metal behemoths Slipknot alongside groove metal titans Lamb of God on their Aussie tour later this month.
