Things Get Other-Worldly In Venus II’s New Music Video!
Aussie synth-pop duo Venus II have released a sexy-meets-psychotic music video for their single I Want U 4 Myself.
The single is a hypnotically spacious track from Venus II’s recently released debut album ‘Inside Your Sun’. The track is a glorious combination of repetition, synth, and instrumentals. The vocal line “I want you for myself” is repeated over and over in an docile tone. In some ways this track is truly creepy, but it is also equally groovy!
Our first thoughts listening to I Want U 4 Myself was girlfriends gone cray, and this is certainly what the music video depicts.
The video was filmed by Young Black Youth around some of the South Australian locations for iconic Australian film ‘Picnic at Hanging Rock’, which was one of the inspirations for the clip.
The band explains the video “explores the hypnotic dub feel of the track with a mixture of 70’s and 90’s inspired imagery, set in a cult-like world populated by a powerful all-female cast”.
While Venus II are relatively new on the scene you’ll most likely recognise their members. The duo is the side project of Ryan Grieve (Canyons) and Jarrad Brown (Dorsal Fins).
You can catch them performing the new track and their debut album this Saturday in Sydney. Who knows, maybe they’ll whip out some white lace for a music-vid reenactment…
