TOUR UPDATE: Grab Your Friends, A Tinnie, & Let Shag Rock Mellow You Out

After releasing their well-received self-titled EP, Shag Rock have re-emerged just in time for summer with live dates and the first release from their upcoming debut album with a smooth, super-chilled track and feel-good music video.

Having spent a bit of time immersed with producer Ian Haug (Powderfinger) and mixer Di Dia (Rage Against The Machine), the Brisbane quartet have come out with Sunbleached Girl, a super jovial and festive track that sees them refine their unique surf and psych rock style.

Featuring some delicious vibrato on their twangy Tele’s and a solid grooving bass line, Sunbleached Girl really hones in on that summer vibe. With some new members, it seems Shag Rock have found their true groove!

In typical Shag Rock fashion, the video features the four band mates casually strolling through the suburbs having a couple of cheeky roadies as they jam out with a mini boom-box. Of course no Shag Rock video would be complete without all their buddies joining in, and Sunbleached Girl makes no exception as they perform their latest track for everyone in a chilled, backyard session.

Lyrically, Sunbleached Girl is about the ideal girl who somehow became a reality for a brief period. Frontman Alex Wilson explains, “Then sure enough she finally comes along, it was too good to be true and seemed to end for no reason”.

“We’ve all probably met one, a sunbleached girl, bit of a dream girl, so the song was written to reach out one last time and connect people with those experiences of head over heels and heartbreak,” says Wilson.

With an awesome summer tour on the way Shag Rock are super pumped to get out there!

“We guess this is a bit of a warm up tour for when our album comes out early next year. We’re really keen to see some new places we haven’t seen before and spread our music as far as possible while getting a few cheeky surfs in along the way. Touring is really why we all got into music and bands in the first place, to just get in the van and go on some sick adventures whilst doing what we love,” said the band.
