APES Come Out Of Their Cage With New Single “If You Want It”
After seemingly being off in another world for two years (the studio), APES are back and better than ever! Today we’ve gotten the first taste of what will be a debut album in early 2017 along with news of a tour.
Not to be confused with a popular ex-Cincinatti Zoo resident, we last heard from APES with their banger singles Pull The Trigger and Dimension. If You Want It is our first taste of their debut album which sits delightfully on the horizon.
If You Want It is a light-psych twist of pop that instantly gets stuck in your head. Starting with dreamy echoing guitar chords reminiscent of Methyl Ethel before falsetto vocals sing almost a lullaby to us (‘lax is on max).
If You Want It is everything catchy pop should be, the chorus is a grade-A ear-worm full of jangly guitar and fist pumping sing-a-long lyrics that’s sure to be a festival favourite this summer.
While Pull The Trigger had a punk attitude amongst the poppy lusciousness, this grit is nowhere to be found on If You Want It. In fact, APES have done quite an overhaul with their sound on If You Want It, going from a dirty SKEGSS-ish sound to more of a lush Methyl Ethel affair.
APES have a growing live presence and they will be taking their show on the road in support of If You Want It, a slew of east-coast shows in November are on the cards. Check out the tour dates below!
