Approachable Members of Your Local Community Return With The Indie-Rock Pearler ‘Velcro’
Last year, we declared Approachable Members of Your Local Community as our best new act. They continue that form with high flying colours with their infectious new single, Velcro.
Pairing sweeping melodies and an inflated sense of euphoria to their groovy ambitions, Approachable Members of Your Local Community are a new and austere indie-pop band. Velcro is the sonic embodiment of pouring full cream milk on that newly made bowl of cereal for the morning. Your hopes are high, the day is young and there’s an indefinite spring in your step. Allow Approachable Members of Your Local Community to soundtrack that morning ritual of yours next time.
Taking a few strides from the Borneo lineage of dance-rock philosophy, Velcro is oddly hypnotic with its stringy synth lines and harmonising vocal cues. The group calmly and collectively amble their way through the indie-pop pearler. There’s no hurry to get to the chorus, enjoy the sweeping journey along the way. Additionally, the drums do a perfect job of colliding all the danceable elements together.
Velcro is the third offering from the Melbourne group’s debut EP, ‘If There’s Anything You Need, Please Don’t Hesitate To Contact Us’, due out Friday 25 May.
