Dust Off Your Skateboard, Shakafest 2016 is Here!
A new festival has burst onto the Gold Coast with the inaugural Shakafest set to be hosted at Miami Tavern in August.
On August 27 throw up your shakas, slip on your tattered connies/vans, sport your best flanno, and prepare for a day full of the best entertainment on the sunshine state’s glitter strip.
Shakafest’s inaugural event will be headlined by WA hip hop legend Drapht and Sydney duo Spit Syndicate. Rounding out headlining duties are Brisbane stoner-punk lords Dune Rats, who are sure to make an already wild festival even wilder.
Filling out the rest of the high quality lineup are Gold Coast indie gems Von Villains, IVEY, Peach Fur, The Vanns, and Kiama’s stoner-rockets White Blanks.
Music isn’t the only thing Shakafest has up it’s sleeves though, promising to be “a reflection of the Gold Coast’s street scene combining Aussie Hip Hop, Grunge, Surf Rock, DJ’s, graffiti art as well as a massive half pipe”.
What that “massive half pipe” means is skating, and lots of it! Courtesy of Red Bull and Fiik, Shakafest will feature the “ultimate skate demo”. Will we get to see a newb fail at a rad 900 or land it clean?
