Matt Corby Breaks “Chains” To Deliver Soulful Like A Version

Australia’s most handsome Sydney soulman Matt Corby has given us yet another reason to adore him with a sexy, smooth cover of Tina Arena’s Chains in this week’s Triple J Like A Version.

This 90s hit track was a brave choice that certainly paid off. The cover begins slowly with the electric keys to instantly create classic Corby ambience. As the rest of the band joins in (including some sweet female vocals) the song becomes a bombastic ballad.

Corby jumps between deep tones and a high falsetto to show us the true range of his voice. One of the most interesting parts of this cover was Corby’s incorporation of jazz-style scatting.

By the end of this 5-minute musical hypnosis you’ll be left with greater appreciation of Tina Area’s lyrics and a very soulful start/middle/finish to your day…honestly crank this in any mood!

Corby & Co. are only back in Australia for a short while, having just finished their European festival tour. They’ve been keeping busy though, having just played the Maroochy Music and Visual Arts Festival in the Sunshine Coast. He’ll also be appearing at the MASSIVE 2016/17 Falls Festival over the New Year’s break!
