We Set Sail Release Solid Sophomore Album

we-set-sail

Brisbane’s self-proclaimed “sad bastards” We Set Sail are back and have released their second full-length album, ‘Feel Nothing’. After forming in 2008, this 5-piece can be best described as a hybrid of grunge, post-rock, and emotional alt-rock. Think a modern version of The Smashing Pumpkins or a more refined Nirvana.

‘Feel Nothing’ follows their 2013 debut album ‘Rivals’, and the sophomore’s been long awaited for cult fans. The feel of this album is soft and sad with a grungy edge – in other words, the perfect soundtrack to unleash your inner troubles to. We’ve given the album 3.5/5 stars, read the full review HERE

Every Time I Die Album Drops Soon + Aussie Tour

Every Time I Die

Buffalo metalcore outfit Every Time I Die are primed to release their highly anticipated eighth album ‘Low Teens’ in just over a week’s time. The band’s unique fusion of metal, hardcore punk, and rock, coupled with their intense live shows has garnered a devoted fan base worldwide, especially here in Australia!

While all three singles released from ‘Low Teens’ are fantastic songs in their own right, lead single The Coin Has A Say is easily the standout. With the aggressive riffing, poetic lyrics, and signature crushing breakdowns the band have become known for. This song comes charging out of the gates from the get go and does not stop!

If The Coin Has A Say is anything to go by, ‘Low Teens’ is sure to make massive waves upon its release on Friday, 23rd of September. Every Time I Die are touring Australia early next year, joined by Californian soul punks letlive. and Canadian melodic-hardcore crew Counterparts. All three bands will also be appearing UNIFY gathering early next year.

Green Day Drop New Single, New Album’s Shaping Up Nicely

Green Day

Put your Chuck Taylors on and gel that hair high ‘cause Green Day have thrown us their second single from upcoming album ‘Revolution Radio’. The title-track isn’t short on energy and sounds like it would fit right in with their early noughties collection (that’s a pretty big compliment!).

Revolution Radio follows on from the outfit’s debut single Bang Bang, a hard-hitting song that has so far seen mixed reviews. Their second single has confirmed they haven’t lost their punk charm just yet. The drumming form Tré Cool firm, the arrangement is wild, and Billie Joe Armstrong’s famous double-vocals effect gives the tune that rebellious sound that make Green Day so damn cool.

Revolution Radio proves they’re still the politically charged group you remember and love. Frontman Armstrong said the song has a strong message behind it, especially the chorus line “We will be seen and not heard”. Check it out below!

American punk mainstays Against Me! have dropped the music video for their song 333 off their freshly released album ‘Shape Shift With Me.’ 333 contains everything that has made Against Me! who they are, brutally honest lyrics, simplistic and catchy song writing, and HUGE choruses.

The video itself, which stars Natasha Lyonne from ‘Orange Is The New Black’, highlights the push-pull relationship between repression and free sexuality, set against the backdrop of suburban 1960’s America. ‘Shape Shift With Me’ was the first album the band’s frontwoman Laura Jane Grace had the opportunity to write from the heart, with no metaphors or veiled allusions.

Frontwoman Laura Jane Grace also recently announced the release of her memoir, titled ‘Tranny: Confessions of Punk Rock’s Most Infamous Anarchist’. Set to be released on the15th November, the book is an account of Grace’s search for truth and self, as well as following her struggles and triumphs in her quest for gender transition.

Former My Chemical Romance guitarist and backing vocalist Frank Iero this week announced three massive pieces of news: he has a new single, for a new album, that he’s taking on tour!

New single I’m A Mess stands as a captivating punk song, among its catchy guitar riffs and Iero’s punk voice. If it’s anything to go by, the album’s certainly set to be an angst-driven, but very exciting punk release.

Iero and his band The Patience are bringing the track to Australia next month! Get more info including dates and venues HERE

The Comfort Deliver Quality Emo-Rock In EP ‘Love’

the-comfort

Brisbane duo The Comfort are about to drop their latest EP ‘Love’, showcasing a more refined approach to their hard rock sound compared their previous EP. While tracks Everstone are no where near as raw vocally or dark lyrically to their previous EP ‘Ghosts’, there are still little nuances and screams throughout the EP to help get the blood pumping. Overall, The Comfort have delivered a very polished and mature EP with excellent production. While fans of their heavier tracks may be a bit surprised and divided, there’s still something for everyone to ‘Love’.

chainsmokers-press-image

American EDM duo The Chainsmokers have the world in their hands, and that now seems to also include internationally-loved artists pining to work with them.

The duo recently shared footage in the studio with Coldplay’s Chris Martin and Billboard have reported they’re in talks for potential collaborations with Weezer, Linkin Park, Big Sean, and Dua Lipa.

The Chainsmokers are currently touring the US and UK, but we’ll be keeping our eye out for who these guys choose to work with next, ’cause a Chainsmokers-Linkin Park/Weezer collab could either be the best or the worst thing to grace the airwaves and humanity…
