Trophy Eyes Slow Things Down With “Heaven Sent”

Trophy Eyes

Newcastle natives Trophy Eyes have released the second single, Heaven Sent, from upcoming sophomore album ‘Chemical Miracle’, due out in October. The song is a striking difference to previous single Chlorine, trading in the fast pace and poppy vibes for a darker, reflective anthem.

The song features vocalist John Floreani looking inwards and recounting the downfalls of his relationships. “It starts out all sweet and innocent until they finally work me out, and then ends in a flaming plane crash catastrophe,” says Floreani.

Slightly dirty picked guitars provide the background for a softly sung opening verse and chorus, setting the dark tone for the rest of the song. A bluesy undertone carries the second verse into an explosive second chorus and bridge, as Floreani bellows, “Stay away from me/Now that you know what kind of man I can be/Breaking hearts is second nature to me/And I’ll step over you just to get what I need”.

With Heaven Sent, Trophy Eyes show they aren’t a group of one-trick ponies, able to turn down the intensity heard in previous efforts to allow a softer, more dynamic and emotive sound to filter through.

‘Chemical Miracle’s is set to drop on Friday, 14th of October. Trophy Eyes are currently touring Australia with The Amity Affliction on their ‘This Could Be Heartbreak’ national tour. Check out our live review of Amity’s Brisbane HERE, our gallery HERE, and check out Heaven Sent below!
