Amy Shark Gives Us All The Feels In Brooding Silverchair Like A Version

Our weekly dose of triple j’s Like A Version is an awesome opportunity to delve into our favourite artists’ inspirations, and Amy Shark professed her love for one of Australia’s greatest bands Silverchair before a heartfelt cover of Miss You Love.

Shark and her band built up the already emotional track with a brooding compilation of synths, electronic beats, and swirling samples. Not straying too far from the powerful choruses and mellow verses, the Gold Coast sweetheart slowed the middle of the track, but quickly built it back up with crashing cymbals and powerful vocal escalation. Trust Shark to get us all emotional just before the weekend!

As for her reasoning behind her selection of the classic Silverchair track, Shark named the band as one of her main inspirations to begin her music career.

“Silverchair was such a big part of my life. Every album I was such a major fan of,” Shark told triple j’s Matt and Alex.

Shark and her band also made an appearance in last night’s sold-out Cub Sport gig in Brisbane, so stay tuned for that one on our website in a few days time!
