Drapht’s Juxtaposing “Frankie Sinatra” Like A Version Is Spot On!

Fresh from tearing up the main stage at Gold Coast’s Shakafest, Aussie hip hop hero Drapht has dropped in on the triple j studio for a uniquely jazzy Like A Version. Drapht added his twist to The Avalanches’ recent comeback track Frankie Sinatra.

The bouncing, burbling plunderphonics track took a surprisingly smooth jazz turn with the addition of a flute and saxophone player, which if we’re perfectly honestly almost sound like they belonged there from the beginning!

The charming jazzy sound perfectly juxtaposes the obvious hip hop tones, with Drapht’s confident verses making us believe he really is the O.G in the song. The interjection of his voice alongside Morgan Bain’s gorgeous chorus vocals blends really well, perfectly sitting atop a cool hip hop beat that we’ve been moving along to all morning.

The quirky ‘Avalanches lyrics have a whole new life in Drapht’s Aussie accent, and the cover certainly takes the already intriguing track to a new place thanks to his signature contemporary hip hop style and playful arrangements.
